Jeffrey Myers currently studies violin with Robert Lipsett at the Colburn Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles, California. His past teachers include Mary Irwin of Columbus, and Paul Kantor at the Cleveland Institute of Music. Jeff was a 2006 Music Teachers National Association national competition finalist in Austin, Texas. He was a 2006 and 2007 featured soloist with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. In 2007 he performed the Sibelius Violin Concerto with the Southeastern Ohio Symphony Orchestra. Jeff has taken first place honors in the Ohio Buckeye Competition, the Southeastern Ohio Symphony Orchestra Competition, and the Lima Symphony Young Artists Competition in both 2004 and 2006. He has received numerous awards from the Ohio Music Teachers Association. In 2008 Jeff was a semifinalist in the Plowman Chamber Music Competition and a finalist in the Coleman Chamber Ensemble Competition. Jeff is a past concertmaster of the Columbus Symphony Youth Orchestra, and a multi-year participant in the Ohio Music Education Association All State Orchestra. In 2007 he participated in the New York String Orchestra Seminar directed by Jamie Laredo at Carnegie Hall. He has spent his summers at various festivals: the Weathersfield Music Festival in Vermont; the Master Works Festival in Indiana; and the last four summers at the Aspen Music Festival and School. |
